Be Very Afraid

We face an imminent danger, a holocaust of unimaginable proportions.

I'm not referring to global warming, a geophysical reality that has become a socialist puff cause in their quest for global domination.

This danger is not illegal Mexican immigration into the United States, although every federal politician since 1986 should be made to publicly apologize for their failure to implement the basic provision of Simpson-Mazolli (build the fence and stop the hemorrhaging) before resigning in shame. Ted Kennedy should be required to do so naked.

I'm also not referring to Iran, its nuclear ambitions, and its lunatic state-sponsored ideology which continually calls for the destruction of Israel and the United States. As an aside, however, that problem should be forestalled via a massive attack upon Iran's nuclear-building infrastructure.  Why allow a rattlesnake in your living room to grow to full size before stomping on its head?

No, the danger in question is the one that everyone should fear: the wrath of God.  Sadly, few do.

(Oh, you don't believe in God? Well as Mother Abigail, the old black woman in The Stand said, "It don't matter, child; He believes in you!" Read on....)

To understand the magnitude of the danger we face, let's accept the premise that the Bible is true, literal, and the very Word of God. Yes, I know, that will be difficult for you atheists and quasi-Christians who feel the Bible should be reinterpreted in light of modern "understandings" (read: homosexuality, ordaining of women, gay marriage, etc.).  But please...hang in there with me.

The Bible says that God created the heavens and the earth (Genesis 1:1).  It also says "...in Him all things hold together" (Col. 1:17) and "...He upholds the universe by the word of His power" (Heb. 1:3).  That means if God decides one day that He simply wants to end this universe and create another, He can merely withdraw His power and zip!  No more existence.

The Bible also says in Genesis 1:26 that God has bestowed a marvelous, miraculous, incomparable and irreplaceable gift upon mankind.  In that verse, God the Father said to Jesus Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit "...let us make man in our image, after our likeness."  Does 'image' and 'likeness' in this context mean that God has arms and hair and lungs?  On the contrary, the reference is to God's spiritual image and likeness.  We are endowed with the precious gift of a soul, and of God's very own spiritual DNA.

    So what's the problem?

As recipients of God's spiritual likeness, our identity as a species is very precious to Him.  We are not to be messed with

My new novel, "The Sons of God" (to be released later this year) portrays in a fictional way the truth of Genesis 6:4, where some of the angels who had fallen from heaven with Lucifer (Satan) were attracted to human women and had physical intercourse with them, resulting in hybrid children.  These were described as "the mighty men who were of old, the heroes of renown."  God didn't think they were so mighty.  Evidently, he was so disgusted with Satan's attempt to adulterate the spiritual basis of His special creation that He decided to wipe them out, every man, woman, and child.  Such was God's wrath that He spared nothing upon the earth: every creature, whether it walked, slithered, or flew, was drowned.  The only exceptions were seven righteous humans of Noah's family and two of every animal that the Lord had directed Noah to gather into the Ark.

"So," the atheist replies, "that was ancient history. What is this 'imminent danger' we face?"

Again accepting the Bible as axiomatic, we read on to Genesis chapter 11, where mankind had proliferated into the Middle East after the Flood receded.  Now sinful and full of themselves, they said "...let us build ourselves a city and a tower, with its top in the heavens...".  The object was not to construct a tall tower per se; the Tower of Babel was an effort to become equal with God in power and knowledge. Oh, the ego satisfaction!  The exciting, alluring self-congratulations!  "We created!" was their rallying cry and heart's desire.

Once again the Lord looked upon this threat to His sovereignty and glory and took action.  He gave each man a language incomprehensible to anyone but himself and scattered them upon the face of the earth.

Now, even accepting these incidents as true, are we to look upon them as having reference only to the people of that time?  Or is there a warning to us today? In the final days of His ministry on earth, the Lord Jesus looked out over the city of David and lamented "Oh, Jerusalem, Jerusalem...how often would I have gathered your children together as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, and you would not! See, your house is left to you desolate."  Was that warning directed only to the Israelites of 30 A.D., or, like hundreds of references in the Bible, is it an alarm bell for we equally sinful and blind people today?

Knowing how precious, how special, how untouchable mankind is to God, how is it possible to comprehend the magnitude of sin that scientists and doctors practice today?  Not only have nearly fifty million lives whom God created been horribly murdered in the womb in America since the modern builders of the Tower of Babel deemed it permissible in 1973, the assault upon the uniqueness of the human species is jaw-dropping.  Listen to this recitation (W. Saletan, Pioneer Press, 6-26-07): "We've been transplanting baboon hearts, pig valves, and other animal parts into people for decades.  We've derived stem cells by inserting human genomes into rabbit eggs.  We've created mice that have human prostate glands.  We've made sheep that have half-human livers...scientists have created thousands of examples of transgenic animals carrying human DNA."

There is not a hint of self-doubt, introspection, or hesitation in the process.

Why do they do this? The ostensible answer is "to save lives."  But I suspect that a large part of their motivation is the same sin that drove the original builders of Babel: we will create, and be equal with God!

Can you picture how God views this? Try to imagine your perfectly healthy boy or girl being taken to a lab, where vital organs are removed by arrogant scientists and various animal parts are inserted into your precious child.  Would you put up with that?  Do we really expect God, the Creator of the universe who holds all existence in the palm of His hand, to put up with it?  Will He view this assault upon His image-bearers with continued patience, or will His righteous wrath soon be delivered upon us?  What form will it take?  Will He send fire, as He did to the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah when their blatant homosexuality and carnal lust became too disgusting for Him?

I fear that the Lord will not tolerate such egregious human arrogance much longer.  The Book of Revelation predicts its coming.  The wrath of God will not be restrained.  He will destroy the earth, plain and simple.  The breathtaking haughtiness of mankind, most likely inspired and encouraged by satanic forces, will be our own undoing.

But my friends, there is a safety net.  There is an escape.  Those who have repented of their sinful hearts against God and His Anointed, Jesus Christ, will be spared.  Moreover, they will enjoy an eternity of glory with God in the newly rebuilt earth, where there will be no tears.  If you have not accepted the free gift of salvation that Jesus so longs to give you because of His infinite love for you, please send me an e-mail:
halewriter@comcast.net.  I long to help you to escape the conflagration of God's wrath.
